When we sat down as a team to map our vision for the year 2020, we began by reminding ourselves why we do what we do. We thank you for the support and kind words you have shared along the course of the year:
The biggest challenge has been balancing our time between Afrobloggers work and our careers.
2019 saw us identifying and encouraging new bloggers to take up the duty of expressing themselves. We collaborated with Municipal Review with the Support of British Council and Hivos under the ConnectHubs project. Out of this collaboration was born the Blogging for Accountability Initiative.
We trained over to 200 aspiring bloggers across Africa through digital and physical masterclasses.
We attended the Shoko Festival as Hub Awards finalist. We lost but we learnt how big we are!
We held our first Winter Blogging Challenge in June. We got overwhelming support from the African blogging community with a participation of 100 bloggers from 34 African countries. It was no easy fit to encourage bloggers to stick to preselected topics for 30 consecutive days. We learnt a lot and hope to make 2020 Winter Abc a bigger and better experience.
How does our 2020 look like?
Our priority is to be able to celebrate African Bloggers through an annual awards event. We are working tirelessly to make this a reality.
